In 2011, Byron and Kiki Sambat started Kiki Foods, a bakery specializing in scratch-made baked goods. Kiki Foods used local, seasonal & organic ingredients. Everything was homemade from scratch, including all pie crusts, fillings, cookies…All berries and fruit used was locally sourced & from farms in and around Knoxville. The baked goods were sold at several local farmers’ markets, as well as in a couple retail locations and restaurants in the Knoxville area.
In 2012, they decided to expand the business to include savory items in addition to the sweet treats they were already producing; hence the name, Savory & Sweet. The expansion of the business came in the form of a step van that had been renovated and converted into a mobile kitchen. This kitchen allowed the Sambats to bring mobile food to the Knoxville area and start living out their dream of creating gourmet food without the burdens of a brick-and-mortar establishment. However, the mobile unit did present its own unique set of challenges.
The Savory & Sweet truck is Knoxville’s first Gourmet Food Truck! Our focus is serving fresh, local, deliciousness. You can find the truck at events, farmers’ markets and caterings all around the Knoxville area.
